STAVROS & YANNI - Jun '14

At some point in June 2014, I received an email from Patrick, a holiday maker that had just left Ermioni.  Patrick had tried to contact various people for help, but the same old story, these people just ignor pleas for help where animals are concerned.  Patrick was a sailor and whilst in Ermioni, he had befriended a little white kitten at the taverna where he ate, that had curled ears and wasn't in the best of health.  I was given clear instructions and the exact time this kitten would be around.  So that same evening, cage in hand, I went and found this kitten wandering around pathetically, as there was no more food for him.  I realised when I picked him up how gentle he was, into the cage he went and home he came, followed by a meal which he ate heartily.  The next morning he was taken to the local vet for medical examination and then onto where we keep our largest colony of GreekSTRAYS.  Because it was Patrick who had befriended him originally, it was he who chose the name STAVROS for him.

STAVROS then became friendly with another kitten that I came across from the vet in Nafplio, called YANNI.  This little boy was found by French tourists who couldn't help him any more apart from taking him to the local vet.  After he became better and had been neutered, I was asked if I could help.  Naturally, I always help if I possibly can and took this little boy, who I named YANNI.  The two boys played together and became firm friends, maybe because both of them had been sick when they were younger, and in their own cat ways, they comforted and protected each other.

As time moved on, I had the opportunity to send both of them to be re-homed in Germany.  A foster lady had in the past helped me re-home other GreekSTRAYS of mine, both cats and puppies, so I never had any doubts about them going to a good home.  I prepared them and the day came for STAVROS and YANNI to leave Greece together, which was a sad time for me, having to say goodbye to my beloved white GreekSTRAYS.  Because the two boys were being transferred by road, the journey took a little longer than by plane, but thankfully they both arrived there safe and sound, and now have caring and loving owners and forever homes.

Donations are hugely needed for GreekSTRAYS
